Our school focuses on building students' English phonics foundation and offers classes taught by our native English teacher every week from P1 to P3. Students learn English systematically in class through shared reading, guided reading, dialogue practice, phonics, writing and after-class reading.
In addition, teachers conduct lesson study every term and design group learning activities so that students can apply the words and sentences learned in class to make English more lifelike and deepen their learning content.
Improving reading skills is one of the development priorities for the English subject this year. We teach various reading skills in P4 to P6, aiming to make reading enjoyable and compelling, enhancing students' reading abilities. Regarding professional development, our school also organises workshops and invites experts to teach teachers reading and writing skills.
Creating authentic English usage scenarios in school assists students in transforming what they have learned in class into practical application skills while enhancing their interest and confidence in English. Our school regularly organizes a variety of English activities, such as treasure hunts, stall activities, student performances, and teacher-student interactions on English Day; and promotes English culture and habits during English Reading Week. Additionally, we publish English magazines to showcase students' creativity. These activities foster a positive English learning environment that encourages students' continued progress.
